Like a boy band in the 90's, so goes the U.S.

A government report released Thursday paints an alarming picture of an unstable future for international relations defined by waning American influence, a fragmentation of political power and intensifying struggles for increasingly scarce natural resources.

In a nutshell, we’re screwed. Many of us see this coming as well as saw it coming for some time now.

Like the last smash of a giant’s fist before he collapses, the U.S. invaded Iraq on a pretext, a subterfuge that has only hastened and exacerbated a U.S. demise that I believe could have been prevented. But instead squandered in the middle east that which could have been preserved here in the U.S.

The Bush administration decided to spend what is left. After emptying out the coffers, any future U.S. president starting with Obama will be left with declining global affluence as well as influence.

Be prepared for a run of alternating presidencies. 4 and out over and over as each successive president will become increasingly impotent although exercising dictatorial powers at home.

Like a boy band, we know how the story goes. The boy band never realizes what is coming until it is already over. From then on looking desperate as it tries to hold on to the fame and glory it once knew.

Just like the big 3 auto companies, or AIG, or Lehman Brothers, or Sears & Roebuck, the U.S. is too big to fail isn’t it?
