2008

King for just one day.

We could all use some change. But not the kind articulated by Obama or McCain.

Seriously, it doesn’t matter to me who wins. It took a while to get to this position but I am here.

Both candidates promise so much. People seem to suck it up like this time it will be for real or something like the promises will come true. Each election cycle its this way.

Just imagine the course required if either one of these candidates were King for a Day. They would consume a tremendous amount of resources and in the end accomplish very little if not screw something up. This is how government works for us.

Yet people support their government and desire that their person be in office to screw it up their way.

Yet in spite of the impediments government brings the U.S. has enjoyed some prosperity. I could argue at length the amount of prosperity we can really enjoy if government as it is was out of the way but consider that in spite of what government has done the U.S. has enjoyed a great deal of wealth, it is however, on the down slope of this wealth.

The U.S. for example pretends to support what we frequently hear as free markets. But any authentic economist knows we have never enjoyed a true free market. Business has continued to enjoy the perks that government has provided certain entities. Sure this is how government can help specific entities by endowing special privileges to surrogates and cronies and other special interest. This is the obvious type but people in general do little if anything about due to feeling powerless anyway. So it would have to be particularly egregious case to somehow makes it way to the public.

Iraq is a good example. The U.S. destroyed Iraq that happened to be trading peacefully with U.S. allies. Basically Hussein traded with anyone but the U.S. only because the U.S. passed an executive order prohibiting any U.S. national from conducting business with Iraq.

So then the U.S. in 2003 decides to blow up Iraq kick all other business interests out and setup U.S. business interests throughout. Exclusive contract propositions by U.S. only entities.

Where is the free market here?

Of course the excuse is that the U.S. was “liberating” Iraq and therefore no one not part of the liberation should be allowed to participate in the contracts for business.

Anyway, the point here is just as the U.S. government is abused to setup privileged markets abroad, in this case the oil & gas industry, abuse occurs in just about the same way domestically. A special interest manages to get some political clout to bully out other business’ from fairly competing and voila!

We have probably only heard a small percentage of the abuse cases from Duke Cunningham to Eliot Spitzer to Kwame in detroit to Stevens in Alaska.

What goes around really goes around in government.

Therefore it doesn’t really matter who wins the election. When you too can sincerely throw away your biases and stereotypes you will see its a comfortable position to be in. Then you must argue for less government.

That is the real change.

Now the current candidates have directed the debate lately to public/civic service. They each argue how admirable civic service is and then show their record so we can conclude how honorable they are.

Can we cut bull here?

Like this is a sacrifice in their personal life to do us a great favor? Please don’t do us any more favors.

It is from this position they take the post of an activist government official that empowers us to be freer and enjoy a capitalistic society.

Meanwhile they in reality act like fucken communists!

They take, they tax, they abuse, and do what the fuck they want if they can get away with it. Meanwhile the rest of us hustle just to buy groceries week by week.

Now these guys are promoting Sept. 11 and that they would have each galvanized the nation to do something more than what Bush articulated

Bush has been criticized for a speech given about two weeks after the Sept. 11 attacks, in which he exhorted the public to “do your business around the country, fly and enjoy America’s great destination spots, get down to Disney World in Florida.” Though Bush emphasizes the importance of volunteerism and service, he didn’t ask Americans to respond to the attacks — or to participate in the Iraq war — through personal sacrifice

Here’s the thing Americans historically will fight for something that’s worth fighting for without any prodding or poking from Government.

The revolutionary war, the civil war (the south of course) and may be thats about it. The rest are a little bit manufactured here and there.

In other words in the face of great tragedy like hurricane Katrina or something the people can count on each other and not government.

However recent generations and old are increasingly robbed of this vitality. The U.S. populace has endured a fleecing that can not be sustained at the current rate. The present financial crisis is making people realize how fragile their own economic subsistence is and are reluctant to donate or flock to help.

Which is why resentment at the U.S. government acting on behalf of Iraqi’s or Georgians will increase. The U.S. is borrowing incredible amounts of money to support these foreign nations. All on the back of Joe Public USA.

The result contributes to the current economic malaise we are experiencing now from outrageous financial malfeasance. The economic resources splurged on Iraq is a big example. These are resources plundered from what could have been generally good investments elsewhere, at least the opportunity would have existed instead of being eliminated.

The managed economy and managed capital markets, no free markets exist, imploded from the mismanagement of these statists. And the distortions aggravated and displaced the generally the good elements of the economy. Now its all turned a bit upside down.

Obama has promised that a call to service would be a cornerstone of his presidency, and also has criticized Bush for asking Americans eager to pitch in after the attacks merely “to shop.”

What is Obama gonna do with the above? A call to what service? What laws will he try to pass. Oh wait there are no laws he must abide by. Cheney and Bush established that. The constitution permits the executive to do what he wants. So Obama may be able to fulfill this kind of change after all.

If I was King for just one day, I don’t think I would give it all away but I know I’d have a few things to say to those bastards in Congress.
