Critical cease-fire in Iraq unravels as U.S. death toll mounts
Ok, two important points to make after reading this post.
Critical cease-fire in Iraq unravels as U.S. death toll mounts
First, is that the cease-fire and others like it, various brokered peace deals are more responsible for the drop in violence if that is even correct than anything the surge has done.
Second, this quote from the stupid one, bush,
President Bush spoke about the death toll, saying, “One day, people will look back at this moment in history and say, ‘Thank God there were courageous people willing to serve, because they laid the foundations for peace for generations to come.’ “
Even as he spoke, the situation on the ground was rapidly worsening.
Generations to come? Really, how many times have we heard this before the last 100 years. We have a president that may actually believe this unrealistic view. Again, we have a phony statesmen trying to sell the fact that the world will have peace for generations to come because of a little place called Iraq. Whoever is writing these speeches is trying to adapt this optimism from the bible and paraphrase for us here and now.
