A historic occasion?

This is how David Broder has described Obama’s latest speech. I have so tired of listening to anything Broder has to say the last 5 to 8 years. But in this case I prefer to comment on something he says about the Philadelphia speech in his latest Washington Post article

Obama Speech

I have heard from a couple people about the oratory talent of Obama. I’m thinking 1984 and Jesse Jackson again when he crashed onto to the scene of American politics. But in this case Obama has a real chance of actually winning the presidential office.

Broder seems to think as these other people on tv and elsewhere that Obama has a gift in that he can inspire and so on with the power of his words.

Really? I have seen no statesmen in my lifetime that is so convincing. May be Reagan a little. But recently no American politician since comes close. Immediately after 9-11 we had to go to Tony Blair to hear anything that seemed like authentic words from a man’s heart. His speech soon after that day was very stirring. But the occasion was a sad one.

But what are we hearing today from Obama or any contemporary? His monotone and uninspiring delivery seems rather weak but judging from today’s standards may be he does stand out. I almost have a hard time including Alan Keyes’ name in this paragraph to make a comparison. Because, I think Alan Keyes has some of the most fiery oratory in the nation. Keyes did not garner any attention however. Ron Paul is much more inspiring than Obama too!

What are the differences in content as well as delivery? Keyes and Paul speak against a Leviathan government. Keyes and Paul actually understand the role of government and the underlying economic foundation of freedom. Although we get into some divisive topics with Keyes on one subject I dare say that Obama cannot even hold Keyes’ water when it comes to speaking.

But look at anyone else in the landscape and you see a pretty pathetic bunch of statesmen and politicians. What Bill Clinton? C’mon.

So is it that people are desperate to hear anyone that can speak and at least sound somewhat educated like Obama since we’ve had 8 years worth of someone that is borderline retarded? I think it’s more that than anything else.

Please what is Obama saying anyway? I don’t hear limited government or anything appealing in that fashion. Just typical mundane political gibber that appeals to the average joe that barely cares enough to listen. In other words this country doesn’t give a damn. It doesn’t give a damn about Iraq, it damn sure doesn’t give a damn about race (that’s not what Obama means to the white people anyway).

And to David S. Broder. How many times must we hear white political pundits like yourself talk about race in a way that that white pundit would like us to think about him only as he tries to write an article like that as if its everyone else’s problem with race?
