Breaking Away II: Icing on the Charlatan Cake

After leading the world to a combustible nationalistic-militaristic-imperialistic climate the U.S. after 9-11 clearly valued security, prestige, and influence more than peace. However, for Bush, the problem of poor leadership was more difficult to overcome since he was ultimately responsible for appointing and retaining so many inept military and civilian leaders. Time and again he ignored or refused good advice to get rid of poor leaders, while listening to poor advice to dismiss good ones.

By promulgating policies that bordered between stupidity and treason the Bush-Cheney junta created a legacy in the form of a money shot by splurging remaining American middle class wealth for the benefit of the world’s elite before leaving office and the ensuing economic collapse.

As of this writing it is August 04, 2009. Advisers, pundits, and alleged economic experts are suggesting we are at the bottom of the latest bust. And that we should expect to see some recovery by middle of next year. Unfortunately for their prognostications, a jobless recovery does not seem at all acceptable this time around. If you remember the 2003 – 2004 time range during the slow recovery after 9-11 was in fact titled a jobless recovery. It seems that too many jobs have been lost by comparison.

During the re-election campaign of 2004, the conservatives, Bush supporters and people wary of change due to the recent fear of a war on terror were more or less amalgamated in a grip of fear to re-elect Bush and Cheney. We are now in the post Bush era where these previous supporters of Bush are now considering themselves victims of a draconian government. I wrote in 2004 the following:

“This disrespect for the American people and the ‘American Way’ will force the American people into action they would not otherwise do. As living standards decrease and the government continues its desperate struggle to cling to power the American people will be forced to make hard decisions those in government will not do. Remember, the current administration will be out of office by the time these tough decisions come about. The government’s abuse of power will levy on the American people a burden that is unprecedented. It’s a clear and present danger to the viability of the United States government.”

The anti-Obama people will this time be on the more appropriate side of history. But to not recognize the looming danger their unwavering or perhaps fragile support of the last administration invited, is that the nature of the current era will turn America on its head. The health care debate is a rather odious one. No longer a charade, the pretense to “fix” health care since the U.S. under any scenario can not make good on those entitlements promised to the baby boom generation, will lead the government into actions that will ensure insolvency like never before. These proposed policies will be the last piece of gargantuan legislation that invades the economy and erodes the last remnants of a free society. From here on will be direct Orwellian dictates of overt control.

We have heard the terminology of zombie companies out there in the financial world or auto industry and other too big to fail firms. Again, written in 2004

“We may be witnessing the final desperate acts of the government rulers who in the last hours clinging to life will resort to despicable actions to survive”

The auto industry, on artificial respiration, or less accurately CPR on the body as others have noted while discussing the economy are in fact symptoms of a terminal disease, the U.S. Federal Government, is really clinging on to life.

In Breaking Away I discussed that we have an opportunity to be delivered from this evil where options exist that may not seem appealing at first but in fact will provide for the very freedom and economic wealth many will seek. But the cost will be a departure from the familial relationship that provided comfort for generations.

We will continue to see more ineptness to due to increasing ignorance. At this time we have Obama, a babe in the diplomatic woods so to speak, leading government reactionary and incompetent policies that will lead to disaster as some of those ideas will fall on increasingly receptive ears. However, the current antithetical movement will gain more momentum and represent the real green shoots of liberty’s hope. Similar to tsar Nicholas II, Obama will continue to believe that the mass of citizens love and support him and share his liberal views of a government that worked for the good of the American people. He has become convinced that he can do everything by himself since the “people” are with him.

Currently, the green shoots of “organized resistance” are not merely attempts to politically disrupt “liberal” legislation. The distraction is more that the right wing fringes of talk radio and others that cling to anything anti-Obama. What they represent is more of a manifest rebuttal to the 2006 immigration demonstrations. The immigration supporters are not involved in the green shoots of this governmental opposition but merely either silent in hopes of free healthcare or otherwise directly supporting it. We have two growing constituencies defined by two policies in which the politicians will support the one that keeps them in power. On one hand the more constitutional, bill of rights oriented indigenous populations against the first or second generation wave of immigrants, their families, and sympathizers.

The green shoots of freedom loving, constitutional rights supporting citizens will hopefully evolve into groups that withhold taxes and boycott elections. The government under Obama will capitulate, in principle to the immigration rights group but will in practice multiply the exceptions that they altogether swamp the principle as a result. What will remain is a fractured Republic.

Look out for charlatans.
